Excellent Organic Sencha
Deep Steamed Green Tea, Loose Leaf
(FukamushiCha)

We will refrain from using too many superlatives to describe this elegant green tea. The tea leaves possess a wonderful fragrance upon opening the package. The first infusion brings forth a deeply rich colored liquid that that offers a very well rounded, smooth, mellow and rich taste.

One cupful invariably leads to another along with thoughtful contemplation of the tea's complex nature. A light astringency slightly increases as the liquid cools. The second steeping produces a little darker liquid that tastes much the same as the first, but is slightly sweeter.

This organic green tea from the Chiran area richly deserves to be tasted by one and all as a true example of Japanese green tea at its finest. Excellent Deep Steamed Organic Sencha has been produced according to the strict guidelines of the JAS (Japan Agricultural Standard) and is certified organic.

- 100 grams (3.5 ounces)
- Makes approximately 45 to 50 servings of tea

Brewing Suggestions:
First Infusion: Add 1 gram of tea per 100 ml of fresh water, or about one tablespoon per potful. Heat the water to 80C (180F) and brew for one minute.

Second Infusion: Brew with the same temperature water as the first infusion but for only a few seconds. Please note that the caffeine content of green tea becomes significantly less after the first steeping.

What is deep steamed tea? (Fukamushicha)
Deep steamed tea is steamed a minute longer than your regular Japanese green tea. It sounds simple, but it isn’t that simple. Deep steaming requires great skill and knowledge. Not many Japanese tea companies are experts in this. This is due to the tricky and rigorous methods involved in deep steaming. Our green tea supplier has immense knowledge and skill in deep steaming. Hence, we serve you only the superior quality deep steamed green tea.

What’s so special about deep steamed tea?
When deep steamed, the tea leaves lose their leaf shape. The leaves separate and result in a comparatively powdery consistency. When you brew deep steamed tea, you’ll get a thicker, richer, darker green, green tea. The wet leaves of deep steamed green tea may appear mushy. Don’t worry, this appearance doesn’t affect the taste and the nutritional value. It’s one of the advantages of being deep steamed. It’s our pleasure to bring you the deep flavor of deep steamed Japanese green tea. We do it for your enjoyment and health!

Japanese Green Tea
Product Safety - 2016

For three consecutive years the Shizuoka Prefectural Government has contracted a certified independent agency to test, in its own laboratory, green tea for radiation harvested from all parts of the region. Each year all of the samples tested safe for human consumption in accordance with USA (USDA), European Union, Australian and Japanese government standards.

No unsafe tea has ever reached any consumer.

With the health and well being of consumers in mind, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan has set strict safety standards for green tea. The report “Results of Tests for Radioactivity of Tea Produced in Shizuoka Prefecture in 2013” is available for your viewing at the link below. The samples tested were for “brewed tea” which is the state it is actually consumed. The test results for all the samples were nearly the same. Radioactive Cesium 134 and 137 were near zero while the safety limit is 100bq/1KG. Shizuoka green tea has once again been certified to be absolutely safe for your consumption and enjoyment.

The 2013 report is in Japanese language only but understandable to non speakers and can easily be translated by Google or Bing Translate. The first column of the report lists the number of areas tested. The second column is the type of tea tested. The third column is the name of the area tested. The fourth is the tea harvest date. The final three columns display the test results of Cesium 134, 137 and Iodine measured in bq/1KG.
